question:
It
has been said that God blessed doctors with wisdom to perform
operations and practice healing arts. Is it the Lord’s will that
the Elect utilize doctors?
answer: It is absolutely not the
Lord's will that His people create unholy associations and go to the
world for deliverance (Even though the meek will inherit the earth [See
Psalms 37:11]). The first and foremost commandment is "The
Lord our God is one Lord" (See Mark 12:29). Our Lord is unequivocally
to be number one in our lives. Nowhere in the Holy
Scriptures will you find the Lord desiring His people that are in
proper relationship with Him utilize physicians.
The
Bible teaches that
man can’t serve two masters. Man can’t be devoted to both God and
money. It may not be explicitly written, but man also can’t be
servant to
both God and physicians. One will receive loyalty, and the other
will receive resentment. (See Matthew 6:24)
With all that said, our
great Lord is merciful. If one is not in proper relationship our
Lord, that person better take measures to ensure their natural
health. Concerning our natural health, no one should forsake the
voice of the Lord, and try to also forsake the physicians. (If
you do that, not only will you spirtually die, but you will also
naturally die). The
Lord blesses mankind through the hands of the doctors as an act of
mercy while His will is being manifested in our lives.
Luke
6:35-36 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend,
hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall
be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and
to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is
merciful.
But, His works
of patience and mercy with
those that fall short should not be misinterpreted as approval
for the use of doctors, their
drugs and treatments for His people in proper
relationship. Additionally, the Lord may consider a person’s
insistence to not rely on Him as provocatively tempting Him (See
Matthew 4:6-7 & 1 Corinthians 10:9). Why would anyone
go to an incompetent
doctor anyway when our Lord will keep us healthy for free?
Deuteronomy
6:16 Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
Exodus
17:7 And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because
of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the
LORD, saying, Is the LORD
among us, or not?
question:
I go to the doctor, but
how am I the doctor's servant?
answer:
One may say "I'm not a servant of the doctor just
because I
utilize his services". Many spend
hundreds of dollars a month on medical insurance, just to later spend
even more
money once they are ill. Many frequently
cancel their important ministerial obligations just to meet their
doctor's or
illness' demands. Due to treatments,
many are too tired, too broke, too sick, and/or too busy to tend to
the
things of God. If that is true for you
then whose servant are you?
question:
Are we to exhaust
our resources first before the Lord will help us?
answer:
Nowhere in the
scriptures is it taught through word or deed that one
should exhaust earthly resources before calling on the Lord. We
likely know someone that was blessed by the Power of God after
exhausting all options for relief because at that point a person is
finally of one opinion concerning their situation. That opinion
being that the Lord is Lord, ready, willing and well able.
After
unsuccessfully spending all her
living on physicians, a woman that had an issue of blood for twelve
years touched the Lord Jesus’ garment. Through faith in our Lord
she was
immediately healed. (See Mark 5:25-34) However, being broke
and enduring suffering was not a requirement for this miracle; all that
was needed was faith. Unfortunately, for some of us, we don’t get
the message until we are busted and disgusted.
Mark
5:25-26 (NLT) And there was a woman in the crowd who had had a
hemorrhage for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal from many
doctors through the years and had spent everything she had to pay them,
but she had gotten no better. In fact, she was worse.
Notwithstanding,
if the Lord desires He
could command a person to exhaust their resources before seeing the
Power of God. This would however be an extenuating /
extraordinary circumstance,
likely to remove other gods out of a person’s life, so the Lord can be
Chief (See Mark 10:17-25).
question: If the Lord expressly told me to go to the
doctor, how can it be against His will?
answer:
Some continue to be
indecisive
about God's promises and are a detriment to themselves and
others. God may
desire to mercifully give instructions to some that have disqualified
themselves from the fullness of His power. (God is love).
James
1:6-8 (NLT) But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect
him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea
that is driven and tossed by the wind. People like that should
not expect to receive anything from the Lord. They can't make up
their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they do.
Some
have their inheritance limited / restrained as Simeon, which in anger
endangered all of Israel. (See Genesis
34:25 & 30, Genesis 49:5 & 7 [,Genesis 29:32-35], and Joshua
19:1 & 9). However, there are people that abide in
love, faith and hope
and have receive more blessing than they asked for, as Simeon's
brother, Joseph received double inheritance blessing (See Genesis
48:5-6).
Many have falsely made assumptions
of what God's will is based upon experience. While experience
often is a good teacher, it falls short of the Truth. For
example: One may assume King Ahab operated in the Lord's
favor because the Lord gave him victories in battle. Contrarily,
King Ahab's wife and descendants were wiped out.
It is not the Lord's will that
married couples divorce (fornication
is an ecclesiastically lawful exception for
divorce). Yet, with us being stubborn as
mules, provisions for divorce were made. Nevertheless, while it
is allowed [with stipulations], divorce for various offenses is not the
Lord's
will.
Israel was explicitly told to go to
exile in Babylon or die. These instructions came from the Lord
through Jeremiah, but it was not the Lord's desire to have His people
bound. The command was the result of Israel's unapologetic
violations. The Lord wants us to live faithfully in peace and joy.
John
14:14-15 (KJV) If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do
it. If ye love me, keep my commandments.
The Lord
gave
Israel a king to rule them, but that was not His will.
Consequently, if you
had a king, and there were matters for the king to deal with, the Lord
may send you to the king that He did not prefer for you to have.
Some desire an earthly physician as Israel desired an earthly
king.
Just as Abraham and Sarah did not
need help from Egypt (Hagar) for the Lord's Word to be fulfilled,
likewise, we don't need to go to Egypt for the Lord to perform His
miracles today.
question: I've heard it preached that when the doctor
no longer can help me, that is when the Lord steps in and heals
me. Is this true?
answer:
This has been said
by man, but the real question is if this teaching is written in the
Word (we need to know what the Spirit says). A doctor's
bewilderment is not
a prerequisite for the
Kingdom of God. No doctor is needed to enjoy the Lord's power and
the privilege of being an heir in the Kingdom.
Romans
14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness,
and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
question:
Concerning communicable
diseases, there are negative reactions to vaccinations. Isn't the
threat of disease too high to avoid immunizations? (Does not the
risk of deadly disease outweigh the risk of often inconvenient side
effects?)
answer:
Since Jesus Christ
paid the price of our sickness on Calvary, there is no risk of disease
for those that faithfully trust and obey Him. The sickness, if
any, will not lead to death, but contrarily will lead to the glory of
God as His power is evidenced and the enemy is shamed (See Psalms
34:19).
If you are protected by faith in the blood of the Lamb of God, then
there is no high-risk threat to fear since the disease has no power
over you. If risk of disease is null
and void, then why would anyone subject themselves to vaccinations with
potential for adverse reactions?

Corinthians 10:31 (NLT) Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God.
John 3:33 (KJV) He that hath received his testimony hath set to
his seal that God is true.
Man hypocritically threatens those
that trust the lord with “abuse”. But since man has no power (God
has all Power), ultimately one needs to decide who they will obey (it
is better to obey God).
Romans
6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey,
his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of
obedience unto righteousness?

You must serve only the LORD your God. If you
do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will keep you healthy.

Thessalonians 3:3 (KJV) But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish
you, and keep you from evil.

Corinthians 1:25 (NLT) This "foolish" plan of God is far wiser
than the wisest of human plans, and God's weakness is far stronger than
the greatest of human strength.
James 5:14-15 (NLT)
Are any among you sick? They should
call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them,
anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. And their prayer
offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well.
And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.
Proverbs 3:55 (NRSV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not
rely on your own insight.
Proverbs
11:28 (NLT) Trust
in your money and down you go!
But the godly flourish like leaves in spring.

Chronicles 7:14 (NRSV) if my people who are called by my name humble
themselves, pray,
seek my face,
and turn from their wicked
ways, then I
will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their
land.
Joel 2:32a (KJV) And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the
name of the LORD shall be
delivered:
Philippians
4:6 (NRSV) Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known to God.
1 John 5:14-15 (NRSV) And this is the boldness we have in him,
that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we
know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained
the requests made of him.
