Please Excuse Me Dad, My Brother Needs Me...
Compiled By Brother L. Harrell

Someone said Jesus broke the Sabbath.  Additionally they said that the reason He broke it was because He did away with the [Lord’s] Day.  (It has been said that since it was a new administration, He was going by the parameters of the new administration).

Even if the Sabbath was instituted by the Law (Genesis 2:3 makes known the time set aside is not exclusive to the Law), Jesus was not under authority to do away with the Sabbath.  (That would not be in order, which the Son of Man followed).  Jesus was not yet glorified.  As our kinsman, the Son of Man had to observe the Law.

1 Corinthians 14:40   Let all things be done decently and in order.

To say He set an example of doing away with the Sabbath by breaking it is false because Jesus as the Son of Man had no authority to do so.  (Of course what is false and what is true is only of concern with those that care what is false or true).  Many Santa Claus and Easter Bunny worshipers don’t truly care about what is false or true.  (They only care in words but not deeds).

Jesus was excused from honoring His Father on the Sabbath because He was about His Father’s business, which is to honor His Father.  When one is walking about ministering to thousands of people that want your attention 24/7, one likely will find themselves spending time ministering instead of performing preparation for the Sabbath.  Then you will find yourself needing food that you did not have time to prepare.

The servant is not greater than His master.  If men today are at times overtaxed due to ministering to the world, so was the Master.

John 13:16   Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

Profanation of the Sabbath is waived by acts of mercy.   Through mercy, the sanctity of the Day is carried out.

James 2:13 (NLT) For there will be no mercy for you if you have not been merciful to others. But if you have been merciful, then God's mercy toward you will win out over his judgment against you.

Jesus being the Lord of the Sabbath knew what the Sabbath was about.  Who is going to tell the Lord of the Sabbath how to keep the Sabbath in truth and in spirit?  He is the author of the Day!  Jesus being full of the Spirit of God knows what excuses Him and what does not.

Need a law [in writing] to keep the Sabbath [in the New Testament]?  Why?
The Law places liability to the account of the lawless that don't heed the Spirit.  The Law is for the lawless.  Those that strive for peace don't need a written command to honor the Mighty King.  If love is in your heart, the need to tithe, give generous offerings and honoring one's obligations does not have to be mandated by the letter.  If the Law is written in your heart, why do you seek it in writing?  If you need to be told to honor your father / Father, you are already in the wrong spirit.  (We should not be immoral or amoral if His Spirit has been given Lordship in our lives).

1 Timothy 1:8-10  But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,  For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

II Timothy 3:16 (Weymouth New Testament)  Every Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for convincing, for correction of error, and for instruction in right doing;

Not only does the Spirit lead us into truth, but we have been given the Law as a guide.  The Law teaches us to make a difference between holy and unholy.  The Seventh Day Sabbath is without question holy.  Separate it from your own unholy lustful deeds, and keep the Day dedicated to the Creator and His desires.

If a believer is full of the Holy Spirit, heeding His voice, why would there be need to have it written on stone or paper that we need to assemble on a consecrated day instead of a day dedicated to God’s adversary (Baal / a sun god)?   Again, we should have learned from the Law to separate holy from unholy.

God created the first day, and the enemy can't make that day unholy [on the day's own account].  However, the ritual of assembling on the first day, [purportedly] substituting the Sabbath, which is without question in honor of Baalim, is unholy.  (The ritual is an act of rebellion...  False substitution is rebellion).  The first day of the week is pure, for the Lord created it, but the unholy memorial to other gods and false gospel accompanying that contemptuous ritual is not.

No true prophet of God will prophetically declare that the first day of the week is the Lord's Holy Day.  Ask any prophet to prophetically state whether the Seventh Day is the Lord's Holy Day or not.  If they convey that the Lord spoke the answer, mark them by their Words.  Sunday is not the Sabbath of the New Testament.
